Former PA Attorney General Kathleen Kane Launches Campaign For Prison Reform

Kathleen Kane is in the news again after launching a high-profile campaign to improve conditions for inmates in the State of Pennsylvania. She insists it’s vitally important that those involved in law enforcement do not give up on people once a sentence has been secured.

“Obviously I have been meaning to launch this campaign for many years as it has been a issue close to my heart ever since I was in law school.”

Kane says that it’s not enough to focus on putting the bad (or, as she calls them, misguided) people behind bars.

“Convicts are still human beings, who need to be kept as safe and as comfortable as possible, no matter what the cost.”

The former Attorney General says the current system has a long way to go, and needs to be fixed straight away.

“I was horrified to find out today that our prisoners have to endure 180-count sheets. I didn’t even know thread counts went that low.”

Kane says it’s important that prisoners know they have people of influence on their side.

“Let me be your champion, just like I always meant to be – even if it appeared at times that I wanted to lock you up and throw away the key. We’re cool now, right?”
