President Trump has congratulated the New England Patriots on their Super Bowl victory, and, as is customary, has extended an invitation to come to the White House. However he went out of his way to emphasize that the visit would be catered by White Castle this time.
The move is being interpreted as a snub by some political observers, who say the sliders on offer barely compare with the lavish feast of Big Macs, Whoppers, Wendys, and pizzas that Trump laid on for the Clemson Football team.
Though quarterback Tom Brady is said to be a MAGA fan, other Patriots players were dismissive of the President after their victory, which could explain why he wanted to downgrade the event.
Defenders of the President said it wasn’t intended to be a snub against the Patriots per se, but that Trump had been ‘shell-shocked’ by the estimated $3,000 tab the last time he hosted a football team
“Remember, this is a man not used to paying bills.”
Fans of White Castle disputed the very premise that its legendary sliders should be considered an inferior offering in the first place.
“If anything, this is an upgrade.”
The White House chef, who is back at work given the shutdown is over for now, said he had no problem not being asked to work his usual haute cuisine magic.
“These new menus seem much more in keeping with this Presidency.”
