Facing a barrage of questions about his connections to Russia and his involvement in the firing of FBI Director James Comey, Attorney General Jeff Sessions employed the notable diversionary tactic of reminding the Senators grilling him that he’s a racist.

“You know I was denied a federal judgeship in the 1980s over that, right?”

Though the Congressional inquiry is supposed to focus on his specific involvement in the dismissal of Comey, Sessions fended off one probing question after another by bringing up allegations of his own connections to the KKK.

“Some people would consider that a big deal worth investigating further. Just Saying.”

While at first glance it might seem stupid of Sessions to invite such scrutiny, experts say it’s a clever move as he was already appointed Attorney General anyway, proving people in power are not that bothered by it.
