Launch Of New Blackberry Phone Marred By Total Shock That Blackberry Still Exists

[Waterloo, ON] BlackBerry Limited (NASDAQ: BBRY; TSX: BB) has announced the release of what it calls the World’s most secure android smartphone – the DTEK50.

Running Android Marshmallow 6.0 and benefiting from Blackberry’s full security suite, the company is hoping it will be a big seller with personal consumers and corporate users alike.

However the launch didn’t go as smoothly as planned with most of the questions from the assembled tech press not concerning the security features of the new product. Instead they focused on confirming that what they were witnessing was real, given the extreme levels of disbelief that Blackberry existed at all anymore.

“Are you sure you’re not confused and you’re really Samsung?”

The next half hour was spent trying to prove that the company really did still exist, and that the shiny new touchscreen device on display was indeed a Blackberry.

“What’s next – a new MS-DOS release?” quipped CNET’s representative to general laughter.

Younger tech journalists who have only been on the job a few years – and so didn’t know about Blackberry back when people believed it existed – had to be given a rapid education by their older peers.

“Did you parents ever mention owning a Nokia when they were younger? It’s like that – only Canadian.”
