Marco Rubio Decides To Stay In Race After Seeing The Movie ‘Rudy’

Following his terrible showing in recent primaries – and that fact that he is hopelessly trailing Donald Trump and Ted Cruz in delegates – Marco Rubio was reportedly considering ending his bid today. After strong encouragement by party leaders to pull out, which they believe could help stop Trump, Rubio had reconciled himself to throwing in the towel.

But just as he was about to leave his hotel room to announce he was suspending his campaign, the movie Rudy – about the struggle of pint-sized Daniel ‘Rudy’ Ruettiger to fulfill his dream of play football for Notre Dame – came on the TV. Rubio was transfixed by the emotional underdog tale, in which diminutive actor Sean Astin plays the eponymous character as he overcomes one struggle after another against all reason.

“Rudy’s just like me, right down to the height, and he got to suit up for three whole plays in the final game for which he was eligible!”

Rubio is therefore staying in the race, since he now knows that, even if he loses the Florida primary, it’s still his destiny to be President somehow for at least a week.
