With the impeachment of President Trump by the House now a certainty, Mitch McConnell has promised to get the next step underway in a timely fashion.

“We now move to the aquittal in the Senate, which I will not attempt to impede.”

McConnell says it’s vitally important to carry out the process as it should be carried out.

“I am determined that this aquittal in the Senate will proceed as it should.”

As a sign of his dedication to conducting it efficiently, McConnell will dispense with the bells and whistles that usually slow these things down.

“We will not allow ourselves to be distracted by frivolity like witnessess or evidence in our orderly conduct of this aquittal.”
