One his way home after reporting on the beauty of Trump’s missile strike on Syria with the aid of some Leonard Cohen lyrics, NBC’s Brian Williams was witness to a particularly violent street mugging.

Williams immediately took out his phone and opened a voice recording app to give poetic voice to the wondrous scene he was witness too.

“There is blood

Not too much

Not too little

But just right.”

After falling from grace for pretending he was in war zones when he wasn’t, Williams is hoping his skill for making death and destruction sound cool will bring him back to the anchor desk.

Fortunately his current attempts at paying homage to things that kill people are a vast improvement on his earlier efforts, such as when he composed this during the second Gulf War in 2003:

“Oh TNT

How I love thee!

You blow up those Iraqis

Real good”
