The decision to drop all charges against actor Jussie Smollett is receiving widespread criticism for sending the wrong message.

“This signals to everyone who wants to gives money to ripped Nigerian gym rats to beat the shit out of them that it’s okay.”

Equity, the actors’ union, also came out against the decision.

“Now working actors who want more money will arrange to be assaulted instead of relying on their union membership – because society has said it’s fine with that.”
