Oasis And The Smiths Getting Back Together To Form Supergroup ‘The Smasis’

Fans of 80s and 90s Mancunian music are ecstatic today after news leaked that both The Smiths and Oasis are reforming jointly to create the guitar-based superband ‘The Smasis’.

Though talks of either band reforming have long being dismissed by the members themselves over the years, the idea of putting the two acts together captured the imagination of all involved.

“Something about having Morrissey, Johnny Marr, and both Gallagher brothers all trying to work together seemed a challenge they could not resist.”

The group will also be joined by Smiths’ percussion duo Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce, and anyone else from Oasis who’s not shared shitless at the prospect. Oasis lead songwriter Noel explained that those who marveled at the two groups putting their differences acrimony aside miss the point.

“Liam and I are going for each others throats as much as ever, and Morrissey is at peak crankiness as you know, so it’s going to be fun.”

There is even the prospect that the Supergroup may expand even further, as pugilistic stars of the golden age of Manchester house music are drawn to the idea,

“Paul Ryder of Happy Mondays fame is already reported as having said: Fuck it – I’m in!”
