The bonespur that led to President Trump’s fifth draft deferment during the Vietnam War went on record today about that turbulent time.
“It feels good to finally let it all out.”
It wants everyone to know that it was ready to serve its country, and was not nearly as medically serious as a certain someone makes out.
“I was playing football, tennis and squash all around that time, so I don’t understand why I didn’t get to serve.”
However the bonespur was told it was responsible for 1-Y medical deferment, meaning the then twenty-something Donald Trump wouldn’t be deployed to Vietnam despite being the picture of health.
“It made no sense. It’s almost like I was being used as an excuse or something.”
Ever since then bonespur has felt guilty about evading a fate so many others had to face.
“Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night thinking of all the bonespurs that didn’t come back.”
The bonespur isn’t looking for any pity, but says life has not been so easy in the years since.
“These days I have a great dealing weighing down on me, both figuratively and literally.”
