As experts debate the benefits of widespread wearing of masks to prevent the spread of coronavirus, a scientific study has revealed that one particular type of mask is surprisingly effective – a simple Ted Cruz mask with no filters or even a proper fit.

“Everything we know about this virus suggests this simple mask design shouldn’t work.”

Despite the fact that the masks have open spaces for the eyes and mouth -thereby providing little to no protection against droplets – they appear to be highly effective in keeping people healthy by ensuring social distancing.

“Our best explanation is that they work because other people, including those that are contagious, instinctively avoid anything that reminds them of Ted Cruz.”

Other studies, however, have cast doubt on whether the wearing of a Ted Cruz mask is the critical factor.

“There is plenty of anecdotal evidence to suggest that wearing a Ted Cruz T shirt, or simply talking about Ted Cruz favorably out loud, is just as effective.”
