Residents of DC’s Kalorama neighborhood were treated to an impressive spectacle today, as the US military put on a gigantic parade for former President Barack Obama.
“We knew it’s the last thing he would ever ask for in a million years, which made us all the more keen to honor him with one.”
Though organizing the military flyovers by dozens of fighter jets and a B52 Stratofortress was fairly straightforward, organizers said getting the hundreds of tanks, marching bands, and honor guards into place on Connecticut Avenue was quite a challenge.
“Of course, we were happy to do it for him.”
But given the disruption parades of this kind inevitably cause, they say they won’t be doing another one any time soon.
“Not for the next 7 to 8 years anyway.”
