At a press conference today, a visibly drawn President Trump admitted he is exhausted by people constantly wanting him to be what he is not nor has ever represented himself to be.
“Right after someone was killed by a Nazi I blamed ‘many sides’. I thought at the time I was sending a clear message – but apparently not.”
He feels people still expect him to behave differently, and that he was ‘pushed’ into making a statement condemning White Supremacists.
“Why do you make me do it? Can’t you get it into your heads that I’m a racist?”
Trump asked the assembled press whether they wanted a President who lies to them, or one who is honest and straightforward like he wants to be.
“I’m a racist elected on a racist platform by racist people. What could be simpler than that?”
When asked moments later how he could equate the ‘Alt-Right’ with what he termed the ‘Alt-Left’, Trump’s face fell.
“I equated Robert E Lee and Jefferson Davis with George Washington. Do I have to spell it out?”
However, he was immediately asked a follow-up question regarding when he would be withdrawing those remarks.
“Fine – I guess we’ll perform this ridiculous pantomime all over again.”
